NEWS RELEASE 26-050 - OCTOBER 1, 2026

On Tuesday, September 29, members from the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office Intelligence Unit, TAC Unit, and Special Investigations Section, assisted the Florida Gaming Control Commission (FGCC) in executing search warrants during a targeted operation on illegal gambling establishments in Sarasota County.
Search warrants were served simultaneously at three separate locations within the Englewood community. The establishments were located at 180 N. Indiana Ave., 624 N. Indiana Ave., and 10 N. Indiana Ave. In all, 164 illegal slot machines were seized.
“Illegal gambling operations have no place in our community,” said Sheriff Kurt A. Hoffman. “We will continue to pursue those who violate the law and hold them accountable. Our focus remains on protecting the safety, quality of life, and well-being of everyone who lives, works, and visits Sarasota County.”
