Sex Offender Registration

NEWS RELEASE 18-099 - MAY 14, 2018
Baughman, Jeffrey

The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office is advising the public that Jeffrey Baughman, DOB 11/06/80, has registered as a Sexual Offender living in Sarasota County.

Baughman was convicted in 2007 of Lewd or Lascivious Molestation: Victim 12-15 Years Old and Use of Internet to Solicit/Attempt to Solicit a Child for Sex/Lewdness in 2007 and sentenced to four years in prison. Baughman also served time in prison for False Imprisonment, Robbery with a Firearm, Grand Theft, and Grand Theft of a Motor Vehicle. He violated probation, was sent back to prison and just released on May 8. Baughman has registered as a transient living near the intersection of Shade Avenue and University Parkway in Sarasota. The registration of a “location” and not a physical address is allowable under the Florida law for homeless or transient persons. However, effective July 1, 2014, a transient offender or predator must register their address with the sheriff’s office every 30 days. Baughman is currently under the supervision of the Florida Department of Corrections and is not allowed to live within 1,000 feet of a school, childcare facility, park or playground.

This information is posted on the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office website, agency Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts to publicly notify citizens of sex offenders and predators who register a Sarasota County address for the first time, when moving into the county, or following a release from prison. Citizens should still sign up to receive notifications from FDLE of sex offender and predator registrations.
