SRQ VETS Auxiliary Member Dino Perakis, Board Member and Navy Veteran Rob Kehs, Co-Founder and Marine Veteran Bill Sterbinksy,
SCSO Colonel Kurt A. Hoffman, and I.T. Systems Analyst Trey Kenner.

The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office today donated 10 computers to SRQ VETS, a non-profit organization founded and led by volunteer veterans who work to serve fellow veterans in Sarasota County.

The computers were previously used by the sheriff’s office and following recent technology and software updates, refurbished for use by the public. Members of the agency’s Information Technology Bureau equipped each computer with Windows software and included a keyboard and mouse. SRQ VETS will place the 10 computers at various locations to assist veterans who may need internet access, are seeking employment or enrolling in online classes.

“The unique camaraderie that you find among veterans is something quite similar to what you find in law enforcement,” said Colonel Kurt A. Hoffman. “That is why this donation in particular, is very special to us. We know that these computers are going to an organization that shares our core values and understands what it truly means to serve.”

The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office currently employs approximately 150 active duty and retired military members, and regularly partners with veteran-friendly organizations throughout the community.
