The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office arrested a 49-year-old Venice man today for possession of child pornography.

Detectives investigating Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) determined a particular IP address was used to download multiple files previously identified as containing child pornography. Detectives confirmed the IP address was assigned to an account at 2610 Gentian Road and obtained a search warrant for the property. Through investigation, detectives learned that Edward McManis, DOB 03/10/68, was living at the home. During a search of the property and forensic scan of his computer, detectives recovered more than 100 files determined to be child pornography.

McManis was arrested and charged with 40 felony counts of Possession: Sexual Performance by a Child. He remains in custody at the Sarasota County Jail without bond. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are pending.
