The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 76-year-old Sarasota man Thursday after he threatened another driver with a weapon.

Deputies were first notified of a possible road rage incident just after 1:00 p.m., in the intersection of Tamiami Trail and Stickney Point Road in Sarasota. According to the 52-year-old female victim, she and the suspect first crossed paths on Clark Road when she changed lanes in front of the suspect who became angry and flipped his middle finger. As both vehicles approached the intersection, Harry Shuback, DOB 04/26/41, exited his car, approached the victim, brandished a firearm and threatened, “…you better think again before doing something like that.” Shuback drove off but was soon located by deputies near the intersection of Central Sarasota Parkway and Stoneybrook Blvd. Upon contact with deputies, Shuback exhibited signs of impairment and during a search of his car, deputies located the firearm.

Shuback was transported to the Sarasota County Jail and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and DUI; a blood alcohol test revealed Shuback was nearly twice the legal limit. Shuback, of 8945 White Marsh Avenue, remains in custody today without bond.
