The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office is advising the public of wanted man who escaped from a behavioral healthcare facility in Sarasota.

Brian Stusalitus, DOB 08/06/78, was initially booked into the Sarasota County Jail on Friday, January 12, after being arrested and charged with Trespassing School Grounds and Disturbing the Peace by the Sarasota Police Department. On Monday, January 15, Stusalitus was Baker Acted and transported by corrections deputies to Coastal Behavioral Healthcare in the city of Sarasota. On Sunday, the sheriff’s office was notified that Stusalitus escaped from the healthcare facility by jumping over a wall. Sarasota Police Department responded and are leading the investigation with an active warrant for his arrest for Escape since he absconded while technically still in custody.

Stusalitus’ last known address is the Salvation Army in downtown Sarasota. He has one prior arrest in Sarasota County for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and was released from prison in 2009 following a series of convictions from Orange County for Battery, Carjacking, Robbery, Burglary with Assault, and Grand Theft of a Motor Vehicle. Stusalitus is 6’ tall, weighs 180 pounds, has brown hair and brown eyes.
