The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man for Driving Under the Influence after he was found unconscious and unresponsive behind the wheel of his vehicle Wednesday night.

Just before 11:00 p.m., a patrol deputy located what appeared to be a disabled vehicle near the intersection of Tuttle Avenue and 17th Street in Sarasota. When the deputy approached the vehicle, the driver was unconscious and slumped over the wheel, with the car still in drive. After multiple attempts to wake the driver in fear for his safety and others, the deputy used a window punch to break the passenger-side window and called for an ambulance to respond. The driver, identified as Francisco Orozco-Vasquez, DOB 06/19/97, did not have any medical issues and smelled of alcohol. Deputies with the Traffic Unit responded to the scene and conducted a field sobriety test, revealing Orozco-Vasquez, who did not have a driver’s license, was nearly three times the legal limit.

Orozco-Vasquez was arrested and transported to the Sarasota County Jail. He is charged with one count each of Driving Under the Influence and Operating a Motor Vehicle without a Valid License. He was released Thursday on $620 bond.
