NEWS RELEASE 17-238 - NOVEMBER 15, 2017
The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office is pleased to begin offering front desk services at their new headquarters located at 6010 Cattleridge Boulevard, Sarasota, beginning Monday, November 20.
The front desk will be staffed every day from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Citizens can walk in to report a crime, commend a deputy, drop-off or receive property. As always, citizens can also dial 941.861.5800 to speak with a deputy by phone or email the agency’s general inbox at firstname.lastname@example.org. Also moving to the headquarters is the agency’s permanent prescription drop box which gives citizens a safe place to dispose of unused or unwanted medication. With the placement of front desk deputies at the agency’s headquarters, the front desk in downtown Sarasota will be permanently closed. The only remaining sheriff’s office services offered at 2071 Ringling Blvd. will be civil processing and public records requests.
As the agency continues to adapt to new technology and the changing needs of the public, personnel will remain staffed at the south county front desk located at 4531 S.R. 776 in Venice. Eventually, both the Siesta Key and Englewood training offices will be consolidated to the south county facility where services to the public remain available from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
The sheriff’s office will host a formal ribbon cutting and grand opening event on Saturday, December 9 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Members of the public are invited to enjoy special demonstrations, meet sheriff’s office personnel, and visit the new front desk. For more information about the event, visit www.SarasotaSheriff.org or call the agency’s Community Affairs Office at 941.861.4005.
