The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Sarasota man for a stabbing that occurred at a local nightclub just before 2:30 a.m. Thursday in Sarasota.
Deputies were called to 5147 Ocean Boulevard for reports of a fight involving two men and a possible gun. The incident began earlier in the night when an argument ensued between the victim and two men over a spilled beverage. When the bar closed, the victim was confronted in the parking lot by one of the men who hit him in the face and used a knife to stab him in the back. The victim drove himself to the emergency room where he was treated for his injuries and during a photo lineup, identified the suspect as Andreas Leonardo Montilla-Monsalve, DOB 05/16/93. During the investigation, deputies obtained video surveillance from the nightclub corroborating the 911 calls with the time of the stabbing, and identifying Montilla-Monsalve as the aggressor.
Montilla-Monsalve was arrested Friday morning and charged with Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon. He remains in custody at the Sarasota County Jail on a $75,000 bond.
