NEWS RELEASE #: 16-123

The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office Fugitive Apprehension Unit, working in conjunction with the U.S. Marshals Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force, captured a man in Colorado wanted for a Sarasota burglary that happened in May.

Gregory Miller, DOB 5/13/88, who was formerly employed by the victim, was identified as the suspect who stole two safes containing more than $200,000 in cash and jewelry. Through further investigation, detectives located evidence including a blanket and piece of paper both stolen during the burglary, in Miller's vehicle. Through investigative means, deputies soon learned that Miller traveled through several states since the crime occurred. On Sunday, while working closely with investigators in Denver, Colorado, the U.S. Marshals and Adams County Sheriff's Office located Miller hiding in a hotel room. When he was taken into custody, deputies recovered a brief case containing $100,000 in cash.

Miller is being held in the Adams County Jail awaiting extradition to Florida. He faces a single charge of Burglary of a Dwelling.
