Sarasota County Sheriff Tom Knight is pleased to announce that two lieutenants graduated Friday from the 75th Command Officers Development Course sponsored by the Southern Police Institute, Department of Justice Administration at the University of Louisville.

Emergency Operations Lt. Brigit Leonard and Law Enforcement Lt. Stan Hayes attended the 400-hour training program at the Broward County Sheriff's Office in Ft. Lauderdale in five, two-week segments over a five month period. Students learn to develop solutions to specific problems; plan implement and evaluate management strategies; and understand federal requirements for personnel issues.

"Participation in the Command Officers Development Course is very beneficial to graduates, our agency and the community as a whole," said Sheriff Knight. "Supervisors regularly face complex decisions where leadership training like this really makes a difference."
