Sheriff's Office Motorcycle Unit

The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office was awarded a grant for $161,545 from the Florida Department of transportation. This grant has allowed the Sheriff's Office to purchase six new Harley Davidson Motorcycles as well as two transport trailers. The grant also provided specialized training for seven of the traffic deputies. The unit was able to purchase boots, helmets and other safety gear for the riders as well as the required radios, lights, and sirens.

The goal of the Sheriff's Office Motor Unit is to increase the detection and apprehension of aggressive drivers and traffic violators specifically in school zones and residential areas.
