Mary Jo Shelleby
Case# 73-22364
On November 10, 1973 at approximately 2:30am,
the body of Mary Jo Shelleby was sound lying in a roadway at the south end
of McIntosh Road. The cause of death was determined to be homicidal
violence.
Shelleby was nineteen years old and a student at Manatee Junior College.
She has lived in the Sarasota area for only a few months. She did not have
a vehicle and was known to hitch-hike or accept rides from strangers to
get from one location to another. She was possibly seen the night before
in a local bar off Main Street in downtown Sarasota.
The investigation reveled that possibly more than one suspect was involved
in her death.
