Jim Thompson

Views of Club Mary, where Jim Thompson was shot to death
(Currently known as Cheetahs)

April 6, 1993
Case Number 93-26998

During the early morning hours of April 6, 1993, Jim Thompson was working as security at the Club Mary Strip Bar (currently known as Cheetahs). He went out the rear door of the business to check the parking lot area and was confronted by three black male subjects. It appears that Thompson attempted to return to the rear door of the business in an effort to get back inside. Before he could enter the door, he was shot by one of the black male subjects.

During the few weeks leading up to this homicide, several robberies of restaurants and grocery stores had occurred in the Sarasota/Manatee area. It is believed that the same subjects may have been involved in the robberies and this homicide.

If you have any information concerning this case please contact The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Bureau at (941) 861-4900 or to leave an anonymous tip, call: Crime Stoppers at (941) 366-TIPS (8477).
