Teen Driver Challenge


Parents, help your teens become better and safer drivers through our FREE 12 hour, 2 day Teen Driver Challenge. This is a hands-on course designed to give teens the experience they need to drive safely under the supervision and training of Sarasota County Sheriff's Office staff.

The course will be offered twice a month, on a quarterly basis.

The next Teen Driver Challenge will be held:

            January 15-16, 2010 (North County)

                 Classroom @ Criminal Justice Center, 2nd Floor, 2071 Ringling Blvd., Sarasota

                 Driving Range @ 664 West Price Boulevard, North Port  (next to North Port High School)

             January 29-30, 2010 (South County)

                  Classroom at Sheriff's Office South District HQ, 4531 State Road 776, Venice

                  Driving Range @ 664 West Price Boulevard, North Port  (next to North Port High School)

 

For Friday: Student drivers will need to at the classroom by 5:00 pm and will be dismissed at 9:00 pm. Students attending the North County class are required to park their vehicles in the Sarasota County parking garage located at the corner of Ringling Blvd. and School Avenue. No parents will be allowed to stay in the building with the teens.

For Saturday: Student drivers will need to bring their own automobiles to the North Port driving range as parents will not be allowed to stay. The day starts promptly at 9:00 am and continues until 5:00 pm. Bring your own lunch. No one will be allowed to exit or enter the premises during this training.

To register, please download and fill out the forms (below). Forms must be notarized and submitted in advance (preferably 14 days prior to the class). You will be contacted to confirm your registration.

Please download and complete the following documents:

1) Parental Permission Form and Release of All Claims (Notarized)

2) Vehicle Owners Statement of Permission and Release of All Claims (Notarized)

3) Copy of the vehicle registration form

4) Copy of a valid insurance card for the vehicle you will be operating
